Dear George,

So it’s finally time to go. Let’s take a look at the legacy you’ve left behind. Well you can leave office knowing that you’ve made the world a more dangerous place, you’ve presided over disastrous military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq, trampled over human rights legislation with rendition and Guantanamo Bay and ensured that thousands more people are now motivated to join the cause you’ve been fighting against with the War on Terror. Far from ending Osama bin Laden’s reign you have failed to capture him and you have strengthened Al-Qaeda by uniting the Middle East against the US.

You have also presided over the worst financial disaster for years and contributed to an increase in unemployment, homelessness and poverty in the US. You have protected the interests of the big oil companies, denied the threat of global warming and spent millions of taxpayer dollars on the military. At the same time you’ve all but ignored the plight of your own people afflicted by Hurricane Katrina. Still I guess the important thing is you and your buddies made a lot of money.

How you ever managed to get elected twice is a mystery in itself considering your shameful military record, your undistinguished business career and your general complete lack of credentials for the job. I guess it’s not what you know but who you know and your family and friends have served you well, even helping you to rig an election. The US has a proud history and you’ve managed to make it the most hated nation on planet earth, quite an achievement for a rich kid slacker. The only people who will really miss you are the comedians and satirists for whom you have been the ultimate easy target.

It’s a great shame that you will never feel the poverty or experience the torture and abuse of human rights that you have visited upon so many people. I can only hope as you spend your retirement on the golf course, which is co-incidentally where you spent most of your presidency, that it stings a little to know you will go down in history as the worst President the United States has ever had.
