Thanks to a Great American

Dear President Bush,

Thank you for your faithful service over the past 8 years. You have done well.

Not everyone agrees with all of your decisions, but you didn't govern to be popular; you did what you thought was right. More often than not, I think you made the right decisions.

Unfortunately, we live in a nation in which demonizing the opponent has become the norm. That is the most tragic thing that has happened in the last 8 years. It's a disgrace.

In tribute to your presidency, and as a patriotic American, I won't do the same thing to President-elect Obama that was done to you. I will respect and follow him, as my Commander-in-Chief. He has big shoes to fill, and I only hope the country will be as safe as it has been during your leadership.

Thank you for your service. Thank you for putting this nation ahead of your legacy.

My grandkids will have more respect for you than most Americans do today, but I know that isn't the point.

God bless you and keep you,

Sincerely,

A thankful and proud Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom
